Codie Kellen, Transportation Director, LeMars Community Schools

I have been at LeMars Community Schools since 2013 starting in the mechanic’s role and moving into the Transportation Director position in 2016. I graduated from LeMars Community High School in 2006, and graduated from DMACC with a degree from the Ford Asset automotive program. After graduating, I spent time working as a mechanic in Ford dealerships in Ames and Iowa City and became a senior master technician. I also fill in driving the many routes, helping in supervision of students and working on the buses.

My wife Emily is an insurance agent in Sioux Center and our daughters Norah and Eleanor attend elementary school at LCS. We also have a son, Oliver, who passed away from a heart defect in 2017. We are happy to be living back in Le Mars and raising our children in the same community we grew up in.  I would like to be on the IPTA board because I enjoy reaching out to other transportation departments and working with others to create the best school transportation options for our students.
