Mary Jo Hetrick, Transportation Director at the Bondurant-Farrar CSD
Mary Jo Hetrick serves as the Director of Transportation at Bondurant-Farrar Schools, where her main responsibility is to oversee the transportation of students to and from school, field trips, and activities. On a typical school day, over 1,200 students are transported along the department’s 21 regular bus routes, one mini-bus route, and four van routes.
Mary Jo was promoted to director in July of 2018 after serving as an assistant director to the department for three years. Prior to joining Bondurant-Farrar, Mary Jo served as a site supervisor for the Saydel and Colfax-Mingo transportation departments, and a bus safety trainer for Ankeny Schools. Mary Jo has served in the education field since 1998 and has driven a school bus since 2004.
Mary Jo enjoys working with the students, teachers, and administrators and feels fortunate to have a great group of drivers to work with. She is excited to begin serving on the board of the IPTA and looks forward to working districts across Iowa with any transportation related.
Mary Jo and her husband, Mark, live in Ankeny. The couple has been married for over 32 years and share two grown children. Much of their spare time is spent with their grandchildren, traveling to car shows within Iowa, vacationing, and visiting state capitols and presidential libraries across the United States.
